So, Ed Meese, on the Today show, attacked the librarians who are opposed to the Wipe the Constitution on Ashcroft's Ass Patriot Act, saying, "Librarians are more interested in pushing pornography on kids than fighting terrorism!"

(aside: the only documented report of this in the media I've found has been at Salon Premium, so no link for now)

Um, sure. So says the most corrupt AG in the history of our nation, a pandering, two-faced, legally ignorant asshole who was perhaps the most glaringly evil and inefficient moron Reagan had in any of his cabinets, something that takes skill, considering the levels of ineptitude found amongst Ronnie's toadies.

Well, guess what, Ed? Your anti-American, fuck-the-Constitution, bribe-taking, babyraping, drug-pushing, arms-dealing ass is something that should have faded away with the end of the '80s, just like NKoTB and New Coke. So why don't you go fellate a syphilitic elephant and then go crawl away into a corner and die the undignified and painful death you so deserve?

For those who want a slightly calmer response, the ALA has one here. They're nicer to this sack of three-day-old shit than I'd ever be.

One good thing has come out of the PATRIOT act for me, and that is a greater respect for librarians. Librarians and hackers (http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker) have a lot of common ideals that I for one had previously neglected to realize. This is particularly true when it comes to knowledge and its dissemination. Bad laws like the PATRIOT act have done a lot to strengthen the resolve of civil libertarians, and hopefully this will result in increased awareness and some positive changes soon.
