Okay, I'm just about ready to declare this the best postseason in my lifetime. 1986 still holds that mark, with The Greatest Game Ever Played in the Mets/Astros series, the Dave Henderson homer in the Sox/Angels series (which was also the first time I ever heard cursing on live tv, as Marty Barrett, I think, was heard shouting "What the Fuck" over a call), and, of course, the Mets comeback in the World Series.

Granted, each year since the expansion has seen an extra round, which means more potential for great series, but I'd say that the ALCS and NLCS this year are up there with the 1986 ones. If the World Series is as good, this will be nearly a perfect year.

Yeah, last night's game was amazing. Just fucking amazing.

That's true. But the NLCS was unbelievable. Come to think of it, the NLCS was unbelievable in 1992 also.

Have you read One Pitch Away?

A very detailed book about the 1986 postseason. Half of it describes the three series, then the other half follows the stories of various players involved, including, of course, Donnie Moore. Riveting stuff.

Irrelevant to baseball...

...although the excitement level around South Florida is rather high....

I just wanted to let you know I replied to your comment in my LJ. You mistook me in a kindly way, and I explained. :)

Yeah, even *I* was a bit enthused when the FLAs managed 8 runs in the 8th, helping to defeat the CHIs. I wonder how many teams losing 3-1 in a best-of-seven tournament (World Series, xLCS, whatever) actually came back to win it....

Mmm, gotcha. In basketball, I'm pretty sure it's nearly unheard of.

fucking Marlins. May they rot in hell. Oh wait, none of them will be Marlins next year will they? Team, my ass.

How many death threats do you think those fucking assholes who stole the catch from Alou have gotten yet? Almost as bad as the completely wrong call in in game 2? that lead them to winning that game.

Yes I was mad at the cubs for not capitalizing on as many opportunities as they did have, but. Fuck the Marlins.

Ah, baseball. I used to follow that. Used to play it as a kid. Stopped right around the LA earthquake (when was that, 92? 93?) that stopped the World Series.

I only care if the Cardinals are involved. As they are not, I don't particularly care. I'm actually more intrigued by the Curse of the Bambino and the curse on the Cubs having some psychological affect.
