The new cover of "Our Lips are Sealed," by Hilary and Haylie Duff?

I like it. A lot.

Not that they can probably take credit for it -- it's the arrangement and, more importantly, the guitars, that make the song (in fact, verse two, when little sis is allowed to solo, is noticeably weak vocally). But damn. At least one of the '80s remakes by ephemeral contemporary brat artists that Elayna plays will be something I can stand (unlike, say, Aaron Carter's "I Want Candy," which may be the closest thing to pure evil not involving human sacrifice or Celene Dion*).

*Yes, human sacrifice of Celene Dion would technically be a good thing, as with any case of muliplying two negatives)

More in the way of Technically Canadian Content Branded Evil: Shania Twain. Those two, and Shreddies, are the three biggest things I don't miss about home.

A cereal, kind of like wheat chex, only worse and with a strange aftertaste. They're pretty good in bits-and-bites (which is kind of like chex mix) but that's probably because of the flavouring. It's one of those things that Canadian expats either miss or despise.

Yee gawds - I remember those damned shreddies. And the stupid commercials, too.

I'm not Canadian but I used to live less than 20 miles from the border (Near Buffalo, NY).

I don't know, I just think they're icky.
See, just like I said. It's one of those things Canadian expats either love or hate. I fall squarely in the 'hate' category, whereas you fall in the 'love' category.
Although I see no one's arguing about the other two. I'm kind of glad.

Oh, Adam. It's one thing to like Hilary Duff, heck I like Hilary Duff, it's another thing to like a cover of what was a perfectly good song to begin with...

Hm...Okay, since it's you I'll look out for the video, maybe it's on LaunchCast. But I can't guarantee you I'll like it. ;)

We're curious now, intensely curious. But then cover versions have always been one of our guilty pleasures. Even so, we must dig out the original first. I'll be very embarrassed if we find that we don't have it hidden away somewhere.

And once again, you're listening to somebody that I always think that nobody has ever heard of before.

I would love it if Tara MacLean came out of her little hidey-hole someday, but I doubt that it will ever happen. Until she does, however, I still have a signed poster. :)

My niece and nephew absolutley love Aaron Carter and Hillary Duff. "I Want Candy" is burned into my brain. "Our Lips are Sealed" is currently in heavy rotation...

The one that really kills me though is Aaron Carter doing "Surfin' USA". *shudder*
