So, after not getting nearly enough sleep last night (woke at least three times, had nightmares), I woke to Elayna telling me she was worried about missing the bus. Although I know I set the alarm, it was off -- either [livejournal.com profile] shadesong or I was so tired, that one of us had crossed the room and turned it off, and gotten to sleep without remembering.

I burned through the morning chores, got two lunches made and packed, got the kid dressed, got [livejournal.com profile] shadesong up (not easy, as she was out until 2), got coffee made, ate breakfast, made breakfast for Shadesong, got Elayna's hair brushed and ponytailed, grabbed a to-go breakfast for her, and managed to get her to the bus at the normal time, even after waking up half an hour late.

I am so the universe's errand bitch.

The sacrifices made included showering (yesterday was low-exertion), and my usual long email and LJ check. Will do the latter two at work.

Oh, and

This is one of those days where I have a critical lunch meeting followed by another critical meeting. So no sneaking off into the library stacks to sleep, alas.

Happy triple birthday -- it's the anniversary of the births of [livejournal.com profile] hollys, [livejournal.com profile] kalio_plaid, and [livejournal.com profile] littlefrogling. Happy days to all!

Wonder when I'll next remember to check the lj birthday list

Big thanks to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] karlita, for gifting us with a gorgeous and much needed salad caddy set (probably not the right term -- a combination of a salt shaker, pepper shaker, vinegar dispenser, and oil dispenser, along with round caddy to hold them).

Now that we have it, I've got a question. Can and should vinegar be stored in the holders? This is a typical restaurant/salad bar style dispenser, open at the top. With oil, my inclination is to use it only when I'm planning on eating salad that night (as I'd imagine oil left out will get rancid quickly). With vinegar, I'm not as certain. Anyone know?

The good: Tonight's Hanukkah haul included the Sports Night DVD box set, from my Mom! Woohoo! This show so rocked! I also had a great pair of meetings at work today, which I'll talk about tomorrow, when I'm better able to sit up without cramping (see below).

The bad: For the last few hours, I've been feeling vaguely nauseated. I'm hoping it's the result of sleep deprivation. As soon as I finish giving Elayna her bath and getting her in bed, I intend to lie down and read until sleep overtakes me.

The ugly: Elayna's "boyfriend," being a typical six-year-old boy, picked at a scab today. You can guess the results. Elayna just got through telling me the whole story in more detail (with a flashback to one of her own wounds, for added character development).

Anyway, I owe some of you email and responses to your LJ comments. You'll get them tomorrow.
